Phase 1 – abstract service management from device management

Phase 1 scope:

• Should build the foundation for transition from vendor-specific means of device and service management to vendor-neutral ones
• Integrated information about network state should become available for software processing in (close to) real time for all IP/MPLS domains (access, backhaul, core)

Main expected outcomes:

• Proactive IP/MPLS network optimization (access, backhaul, core) is enabled
• Service configuration abstracted from device configuration (if network devices are replaced, service automation APIs are not changed)

To ease implementation phase 1 might be divided in two sub-phases:

• Phase 1a – device management
• Phase 1b – service management
